Agreed, Lan, and that's where my comment came from regarding executing a wealthy individual. Let's just pretend, hypothetically, that Carl Linder III were to kill his wife in cold-blood. From merely a factual perspective, the crime in all respects qualifies as a capital offense. There's a trial, somehow he's found guilty, and now it's the day of reckoning.

Does anyone honestly believe a judge would put him on death row? Worse, do you think the old man would have to sit there and watch his son be executed by the state?

I think we can all agree on the answers to both questions. So my point then becomes, how can you recnoncile this disparity?

Oh but Carl has given so much to the community, whereas the pieces of filth at Lucasville haven't. Well, maybe so, but what exactly are we punishing here- that a person committed murder, or that they didn't give to charity?

But like I said, go ahead and execute someone on that kind of level. Make their millionaire parents sit there and watch it. Have the media all over the world broadcast it, have the talking heads on CNN and Fox discuss it ad nauseum. Do all that, and I'll be the first to join on the Pro-Death Penalty wagon.

In other words, I don't think I'll be leaving the anti-Death Penalty camp anytime soon....
